What is the significance of a new year? If we live only in the present moment, does it matter that a new year is starting on the calendar?
We live in a world of time and space, physically. Our spirit is timeless and ageless. But we also have a physical aspect to our being and that exists in a world of time and space. So a new year can be an opportunity for our spiritual selves to remind our physical selves that it is always a new something. A new year, a new month, a new week, a new day, a new hour, a new minute, a new second. A new present moment.
And with every new thing is a chance for a new beginning. But the only way it is going to be a new beginning is to think something new and/or do something new. And why can't that something new be of the spiritual growth slant?
What could you do in the way of starting a new spiritual practice? For one thing, you can join us each month via the Conscious Kernels newsletter to follow "365 Science of Mind" by Ernest Holmes, a book that has an idea and page-long affirmation for each day of the year. Holmes picks a subject for each month and, no surprise, January is Beginnings. This is your opportunity to think something new for an entire month.
So if you have not subscribed to the free electronic newsletter, do so using the form to the right. And begin your new spiritual practice for 2011 with us.
Happy New Year and New Moment to All!
Until next time,
Namaste
